Gender diversity’ refers to providing equal treatment, acceptance and opportunities across all the genders. In the workplace, it is about creating work for all genders at every level of the organizational hierarchy.
Gender sensitivity involves changing the attitude and behaviour of people towards the commonly held beliefs about the various genders. It further involves developing empathic understanding of gender roles and responsibilities.
2. What types of gender discrimination occur in the workplace?
Work place discrimination includes discriminations in hiring, promotion, job assignment, termination, and compensation. It includes biases in job division and in organizational culture and also includes taking advantage of people due to their gender, such as sexually harassing a woman is a form of gender discrimination.

It reduces the barriers of personal and economic development created by gender discrimination and ensures equal representation of women across the hierarchy. Facilitates a better understanding between genders and generates respect for each other. This also provides a warm and supportive environment for women employees.

It allows addressing any skill shortages and helps to attract and retain the most valuable/productive employees. This motivates employees to put in their best and hence performance which boost the organization’s reputation. This also provides equal access to opportunity to women and help in their economic advancement.

Gender empowerment or giving women the power to manage their lives and participate in decision making in all aspects of life, lays the foundation for ensuring equal access to opportunities and resources, which is the key component of gender equality.
