Home pregnancy tests are accurate as long as you follow the instructions carefully. Pregnancy tests are most reliable from the first day of your missed period. If you have regular periods, you will probably know when your next period is due. If you are not sure, it is a good idea to wait at least 3 weeks after you think you may have conceived before doing a test. A positive result is almost certainly confirmed pregnancy. However, a negative test is less reliable and does not rule pregnancy entirely.
The results may not be reliable if you:
- Do not follow the instructions carefully
- Take the test too early.
How to do the test?
Step 1: Check the expiry date on the pack.
Step2: Add 3 drops of urine, preferably first urine of the morning to the sample well.
Step3: Read the results within 5 minutes
Step4: Discard the used kit.
How to read the test results?
Positive pregnancy test
Negative pregnancy test
If you get a positive result, on the first day of your missed period, it is probably about 2 weeks since you conceived. You can use the pregnancy due date calculator link given below to work out when your baby is due.
